Marten de Roon can hope for a transfer to Chelsea. According to the Daily Express the Orange-international is on the list of manager Frank Lampard. Atalanta’s controlling midfielder would continue the Blues seen as an interesting option for next year, as his contract in Bergamo expires in mid-2021.

Chelsea spent tens of millions of euros on the arrival of new players in the past transfer period. Attracting Edouard Mendy, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech cost the club almost 250 million euros. Still, Lampard was not completely satisfied, as he would have liked to bring Declan Rice to Stamford Bridge. However, a deal with West Ham United did not get off the ground.

The Premier League club is still interested in the England international and a new attempt is expected in the summer of next year. According to the tabloid, Chelsea is also looking at cheaper options, which has sparked interest in De Roon. His contract expires next year and although he is one of the mainstays in Atalanta’s midfield, an agreement on a new commitment is not in sight.

29-year-old De Roon is no stranger to the Premier League. In the 2016/17 season, he wore the shirt of Middlesbrough, the cub with which he was relegated to the Championship. The Orange International is not the only alternative to Rice, by the way. OGC Nice midfielder Danilo is also on Chelsa’s list. The 24-year-old Brazilian has played for the Ligue 1 club since 2018 and previously played for SC Braga, Valencia and Benfica.
