Devyne Rensch will probably have mixed feelings about Ajax's 2-0 victory over FC Utrecht on Sunday. The defender was sent to the side in the final phase due to a hard charge on Sam Lammers. Rensch will therefore miss next Sunday's home match against Fortuna Sittard.

Rensch was late in a match with Lammers shortly after Kenneth Taylor's 2-0. The Ajax player hit the Utrecht striker full on the leg, after which the Utrecht striker screamed in pain. Rensch seemed not to be aware of any harm, but nevertheless referee Sander van der Eijk showed the yellow card.

However, it didn't stop there for Rensch. VAR Rob Dieperink asks Van der Eijk to come to the screen on the side. After extensive consultation, Ajax's right-footed defender still received a red card.

Rensch seemed surprised and disappointed by the red card in the eightieth minute. However, the images of the foul on Lammers seem to prove Van der Eijk right.

Ajax coach John van 't Schip intervened immediately after Rensch was sent off. He brought in Kristian Hlynsson and brought on defender Jakov Medic. Ajax survived the final phase with ten men and won 2-0 against Utrecht.

Kwakman

Kees Kwakman fully agrees with the red card for Rensch. “Very crazy action, very dirty violation. He arrives at quite a high speed. So this is the right decision. Rensch just comes in with his leg outstretched,” the analyst said afterwards. ESPN.
