Following Louis van Gaal, Erwin van de Looi has also announced his provisional selection. The national coach of Jong Oranje has called up two debutants with Thijs Dallinga from Excelsior and Sven Mijnans from Sparta Rotterdam. Compared to the previous selection, Sven Botman is the most notable absentee. The captain of the Dutch Juniors suffered a groin injury against Young Wales (5-0) and has therefore not been called up.

Dallinga is rewarded for his good form in the Kitchen Champion Division. The 21-year-old attacker of Excelsior is the current top scorer of the second level with eleven goals. It took him as many matches to get to that number; last month, Dallinga impressed with a four-stroke to visit FC Den Bosch (0-5 victory). Mijnans is a basic customer at Sparta in the Eredivisie and can now hope for his first international match(s) with the Dutch Juniors.

The Dutch Juniors will play two matches in the European Championship qualification in November. On November 12, the Dutch reserves will play against their peers from Bulgaria in the Yanmar Stadium in Almere, while on November 15 a game will be played against Jong Gibraltar. The Dutch Juniors are second in Group E with seven points from three matches, three points behind leader Jong Switzerland, which has played one more game.
