Karim El Ahmadi will join Feyenoord in the youth academy, the 37-year-old ex-pro reveals in the football talk show FC Rijnmond. The intention is that the former captain of the Rotterdam club will do an internship as a youth trainer in the short term. In addition, El Ahmadi remains active as an analyst in talk shows.

On the broadcast of FC Rijnmond El Ahmadi explains how the project came about. “I happened to run into Rini Coolen (Feyenoord – Sturm Graz, 6-0, ed.) at the game on Thursday. I do want to join the youth of Feyenoord soon. To see how the trainers are doing and whether I will enjoy doing it myself. I’m going to follow along with the trainers a bit.” It was previously announced that Feyenoord sees an interesting youth trainer for the future in El Ahmadi. Now he has really been approached by Coolen, who is head of youth academy at Feyenoord.

El Ahmadi has regularly appeared as an analyst in various programs in recent months, including at ESPN. He certainly aspires to continue doing this in the future. “I also like to watch the games and then talk about them. I was in Saudi Arabia for four years and I really watched everything there. Even women’s soccer. So I really like it a lot. I spent a lot of time there anyway, so I had plenty of time to look at everything.”

El Ahmadi played no fewer than 266 games for Feyenoord in two different periods, in which he was accurate twenty times and delivered nineteen assists. In Rotterdam, the right-footed midfielder won every prize that can be won in the Netherlands. As a key player, he became champion with the club in 2016/17, he twice won the TOTO KNVB Cup and a Johan Cruijff Scale in 2018. After the championship year at Feyenoord, El Ahmadi was named Dutch footballer of the year.
