Real Madrid narrowly lost a point from the encounter with Elche. For a long time it looked as if the visitors would take the win, but a hit by Luka Modric (minute 82) and Éder Militão (minute 92) prevented a defeat: 2-2. In the first company, a penalty was missed by Karim Benzema, who had to leave the field injured after the break. Missed due to the division of points the Royal to finish at number two Sevilla, who collected four points less in LaLiga.

The duel in the Santiago Bernabéu started out hopeful for the Madrilenians. Excellent opportunities were created in both the eleventh and the thirteenth minute of play. First it was Vinícius Júnior who encountered goalkeeper Édgar Badía, and then Toni Kroos saw his respective shot go just wide. Halfway through the first act, Badía was again of great value to Elche. Karim Benzema and Lucas Vázquez saw their respective bets parried by the outstanding closing post. After half an hour of play, Real were awarded a penalty.

Helibelton Palacios knocked Vinícius down in the box, after which Ricardo De Burgos could do nothing but put the ball on the spot. Benzema hoped to open the score, but he shot the penalty kick wide. A painful miss, because ten minutes later the visitors unexpectedly took a 0-1 lead. Fidel had a tailor-made cross for Lucas Boyé, who nodded at the far post. Six minutes after the break, Real thought they would get another penalty. This time, Eden Hazard was knocked out in the box, but after watching the video, De Burgos rectified his decision: no penalty.

Fifteen minutes before the end, the damage continued to increase for Ancelotti’s team. The scorer of the first goal, Boyé, sent Pere Milla into the sixteen with a through ball. The attacking midfielder was given the time and space to lash out and outsmarted Thibaut Courtois with a diagonal slide. However, Real would still have one point left from the meeting. In the 82nd minute, Luka Modric scored the 1-2 from the penalty spot. The Croat was allowed to stand behind the ball as Benzema was taken off the side with an injury halfway through the second half. On the stroke of the final whistle, Éder Militão put the 2-2 behind his name. The center defender nodded inside from a cross by Vinícius.
