Donny van de Beek will remain with the Manchester United selection for at least another six months. Agent Guido Albers admits that he has been working this week to find a new club for the midfielder, but that Manchester United ultimately refused to cooperate. According to the representative, both parties have made ‘clear agreements’ about how to proceed, because Van de Beek, as an enthusiast, would like to play every week.

“I was trying to find something for Donny. It was important for him to find out where he would be this season,” Albers told Football International. “Of course a lot has been said and written and we tried to get more clarity about this. We worked hard on that, but in the end it’s the club that stops everything. Then you should see that as a positive. That there will be another chance. We will have to see if that is the case.”

“There has been a lot of interest from Italy, Germany and also England”, Albers summed up when he was asked whether there was also interest. “It all looked really good. But you need the cooperation of the club. It looked like they were going to give those, but in the end they didn’t. That is disappointing on the one hand, but on the other hand it is confirmation for what he is doing, even though nobody in the Netherlands has any confidence in that. Luckily he does.”

“There have been statements about this a few times and I hope it will actually happen now. We have made clear agreements about this with the club. We have every confidence that it will now happen.” Albers refers to perspective on playing time. “Of course he lost a lot. It was quite painful to watch. Also not being selected for the Dutch national team.” Van de Beek was part of Louis van Gaal’s pre-selection for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers for the the Dutch, but was ultimately one of the dropouts.

“I know what Donny does for it every day and at what level he trains. That’s really not the issue,” emphasizes Albers. “He hasn’t had a chance so far. Hopefully he will get it now and if not, at least have a better conversation towards the next transfer window. You don’t want this situation. He can’t have another season like that. He just wants to play football, he is a fan and fans want to be on the field every week.”

Van de Beek, 24, has not made a single minute of play in the Premier League this season. He has made 36 appearances for Manchester United so far, 15 of which as a starting player. He was good for 1 goal and 2 assists. His contract runs for another four years.
