Juventus has started its new season in Serie A very convincingly. The team of coach Massimiliano Allegri was much too strong for Udinese and was already leading 0-3 at halftime thanks to Federico Chiesa, Dusan Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot. After the break, the pace dropped considerably and it was Udinese who had the best opportunities. There would be no more scoring.

Allegri took youth player Dean Huijsen to Udine. The eighteen-year-old Amsterdam defender, who is causing a stir in the club’s youth academy, was part of the selection for a Serie A match for the first time. He took a seat on the bench next to Paul Pogba, Filip Kostic and Arkadiusz Milik, among others. The latter saw Allegri prefer Chiesa and Vlahovic in the rush hour. Behind them was a five-man midfield consisting of debutant Timothy Weah, Fabio Miretti, Manuel Locatelli, Rabiot and Andrea Cambiaso. Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saw a completely Brazilian defense in front of him: Danilo, Bremer and Alex Sandro. On the side of Udinese, Kingsley Ehizibue was missing due to a knee injury, while ex-Ajax player Lorenzo Lucca started on the bench.

Juventus could hardly have started better in the Dacia Arena, as the score was opened in the second minute. After an extremely sloppy loss of possession by Udinese in midfield, Vlahovic quickly brought the ball to Chiesa. The right leg hit the far corner flawlessly with his good leg. Goalkeeper Marco Silvestri could only look at it: 0-1. Juventus dominated and made it clear that it wanted to decide the game quickly. That also happened, because just before the twentieth minute, Udinese midfielder Festy Ebosele made hands in his own sixteen. Vlahovic found the bottom left corner from eleven meters, while Silvestri remained standing: 0-2. The difference in strength was further expressed before rest. Silvestri dived under a sharp cross from Cambiaso, after which Rabiot simply headed in: 0-3.

It was clear to both teams after the break that the game was over. The pace slowed down a bit, Udinese couldn’t contribute anything offensively and Juventus played a bit sloppy. Udinese even became the more dangerous team for a while. Lazar Samardzic forced Szczesny to an extreme save, while Sandi Lovric also had a chance, but headed wide. Juventus did very little to counter that. Samuel Iling Junior, who came in for Cambiaso, still had a nice opportunity. However, his header flew over. Vlahovic, on the other hand, thought he made his second of the evening. Iling Junior, the man of the cross, turned out to have been offside. In the final phase, Allegri made many substitutions, but a debut for Huijsen was not yet possible.
