Juventus suffered a painful home defeat against AC Milan on Sunday evening. The team of trainer Andrea Pirlo was defeated 0-3 by goals from Brahim Díaz, Ante Rebic and Fikayo Tomori. The defeat sinks la Vecchia Signora to fifth place in the Italian ranking. With three games to go, the Italian superpower threatens to miss out on qualifying for the Champions League group stage. AC Milan moves up to third place.

The game had only been underway for a few minutes when Matthijs de Ligt got a chance to open the score. From a free kick he got the ball in front of his feet, but he failed to make the net bulge. The first chance on behalf of the visitors was for Brahim Díaz. The Real Madrid mercenary saw his bet turned by Wojciech Szczesny. Not long after, AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was relieved when he passed under a corner kick. The opportunity was not spent on Giorgio Chiellini, who headed next to it. De Ligt, who was painfully played through the legs by Franck Kessié on the sidelines, was important after more than half an hour of play when he prevented Zlatan Ibrahimovic from being played in a dangerous position. The the Dutch-international fought several duels with the Swede and got into trouble with him just before half time. De Ligt went for it firmly in a duel and Ibrahimovic was not pleased with that. For a moment the two stood head-to-head.

In injury time of the first half, AC Milan took the lead. After a far from smart foul by Federico Chiesa on the side of the field, the visitors were given a free kick. The high cross was badly handled by Szczesny, after which Díaz picked up the ball in the penalty area. He stayed calm and curled the ball into the intersection. Chiellini did not jump high enough to avoid the goal against. While Juventus went on the hunt for the equalizer after the break, it was AC Milan that had a huge opportunity to double the lead after 55 minutes of play. Chiellini made hands in the penalty area and on the advice of the VAR the ball went on the spot. Kessié took his place behind the ball and failed. Szczesny chose the right corner and kept his team going. Kessié’s miss was a setback for AC Milan, which not long after had to deal with another blow. Ibrahimovic went screaming to the ground while trying to control the ball. He grabbed his right knee and was immediately replaced.

On an opportunity for Rodrigo Bentancur just after halftime, Juventus failed to become dangerous from an offensive point of view. Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t get a foothold and was invisible. Milan was the most threatening team; the 0-2 was in the air before the 1-1. The team of trainer Andrea Pirlo played sloppy and did not have opportunities while playing, despite the pressure on the Milan rearguard increasing in the final phase. Crosses from the flanks were always cleared by the center-backs. With just under fifteen minutes left, the game was decided by Rebic. The Milan forward was released in a dangerous position and shot the ball into the intersection. De Ligt stepped in too late to block Rebic’s shot. In the final stages it got even worse for Juventus. Four minutes after Rebic’s goal, it was Tomori who headed the 0-3 against the ropes.

Juventus increased the pressure in the last minutes of the game. Milan, however, simply remained upright and stepped off the field as the winner. Juventus, the new number five in Serie A, has three more games to avoid missing out on Champions League qualification. The away game against Sassuolo is scheduled for Wednesday, followed by matches against national champions Internazionale (home) and Bologna (away). AC Milan is doing excellent business with a view to Champions League qualification. Pioli’s team comes to 72 points and thus climbs from fifth to third place in the rankings.

Parma – Atalanta 2-5
In the first act, the already downgraded Parma still had the power to tame Atlanta somewhat, but after tea the fence went off the dam. The 0-1 lead, which was taken by Ruslan Malinovskyi after twelve minutes, was doubled by Matteo Pessina seven minutes after the break. The attacker was the end station of a nice attack and shot the 0-2 against the ropes with the inside left. More than fifteen minutes before the end, Atalanta threw the match in the final, when Luis Muriel cold-blooded the 0-3 on a pass from Mario Pasalic.

A few minutes later, Parma managed to score another unexpected hit. Maxime Busi had a perfect take on after an excellent pass from behind, after which he gave Juan Brunetta the chance to easily tap in: 1-3. The goal was canceled five minutes before the end by Muriel, who easily made it 1-4 after a shot on the post by Pessina from the rebound. More than two minutes later, Parma scored again. The just entered Graziano Pellè served Simon Sohm, who made it 2-4. The final chord was played by Aleksey Miranchuk. From a carom the ball landed in front of his feet and he then convincingly shot the final score on the scoreboard: 2-5. At Atalanta, Marten de Roon got a starting spot, Hans Hateboer came in and Sam Lammers stayed on the bench for ninety minutes.
