Juventus has the Derby d’Italia written in her name. Massimiliano Allegri’s team won 0-1 against Internazionale thanks to a goal by Filip Kostic. The Milanese were the parent for a long time, but were unable to take advantage of some great opportunities. Juventus held on and rises to seventh place with the victory. La Vecchia Signora, who was deducted fifteen points earlier this season, is now only four points behind number six Atalanta. Number three Inter loses just like AC Milan and AS Roma, making Lazio the winner of the weekend.

At Inter, Stefan de Vrij was assigned a basic place for the first time since February 26. The the Dutch-international was in defense next to Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi. André Onana was under the bar. Denzel Dumfries was placed on the right in midfield, while Romelu Lukaku was preferred in the striker position over Edin Dzeko, who turned 37 on Friday. Lautaro Martínez was next to the Belgian in the attack. Juventus opted for a 3-5-1-1 formation that is conservative on paper. Kostic (left) and Mattia De Sciglio (right) had to cover the sides. Dusan Vlahovic was the striker on duty. The Serbian scored on Thursday in the Europa League at SC Freiburg (0-2), ending a goal drought since February 16.

Nicolò Barella created the first danger of the match. The midfielder saw his bet turned by Wojciech Szczesny. Inter persevered and got the best chance of the game after more than fifteen minutes. A very nice double combination between Lukaku and Barella led to a shooting opportunity for the latter, who again encountered Szczesny, who had come out. It turned out to be an expensive miss, because on the other side Kostic hit the mark. The Serb was completely released by Dumfries and found the far corner with a low shot: 0-1. Despite alleged handballs from Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot in the run-up to the goal, referee Daniele Chiffi stuck to his decision. Both teams were not very dangerous in the remainder of the first half.

At the start of the second half, Inter had another good chance. Marcelo Brozovic received the ball in a favorable position, but the Croat saw his shot fly over the Juventus goal. A good interception by De Vrij led to a counter-attack by Inter. Hakan Çalhanoglu was reached and seemed to have the chance to take the edge sixteen, but the Turk lost the ball as his first pass was of a mediocre level. Fifteen minutes before the end, a dangerous Dumfries cross was neutralized, after which Kostic saw his effort on the other side go just wide. Manuel Locatelli was also close to 0-2, but he just missed the ball due to an extreme intervention by Onana. Inter still insisted, but there would be no more goals.
