Juventus booked an important victory in the Serie A on Saturday evening when visiting Bologna. Álvaro Morata opened the score early, after which Juan Cuadrado determined the final score at 0-2 after the break. The win moves Juventus to sixth place with 31 points from 18 matches. This brings the team of coach Massimiliano Allegri to five points from Napoli, which is fourth and has played one game less.

Juventus, with Matthijs de Ligt in the starting line-up, wanted to wash away last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Venezia against Bologna as quickly as possible. The visitors started offensively and managed to break the spell within five minutes. Federico Bernardeschi gave a gossamer through the legs of Arthur Theate to Morata, who on the edge of offside coolly shot in: 0-1. The home team had to process the early opening goal, but got more into the game after more than fifteen minutes of play.

Mattias Svanberg first gave a cross to Marko Arnautovic, who forced Wojciech Szczesny to a final save on the goal line with a header. Next, the Swedish midfielder himself was close to tying the score, when a bicycle kick from the rebound narrowly missed the left post.La Vecchia Signora excelled defensively again during the last league games. In the last six Serie A games, the team has conceded only two goals. With the lead in their pocket, Juventus mainly leaned back and lurked on the counter.

At few moments, however, Bologna did manage to find a gap in the opponent’s defense. For example, Nicolás Domínguez was found halfway through the second half with a nice pass and Szczesny tested again with an attempt in the short corner. Where the home side insisted, the game was eventually decided in a happy way on the other side, when Cuadrado doubled the margin for Juventus with a deflected shot: 0-2.
