Juventus managed to book its fourth league victory in a row on Sunday. Knew in-house la Vecchia Signora failed to impress, but Fiorentina were defeated after an early goal by Fabio Miretti. With the victory, Juve reduces the gap with leaders Internazionale to two points.

Massimiliano Allegri made two changes to his starting eleven compared to the 1-0 win over Verona a week ago. Dusan Vlahovic had to settle for a reserve role, allowing Federico Chiesa to prepare for a starting spot.

For the attacker, the match against Fiorentina meant a reunion with the club that he left for 42.5 million in the summer of 2022. Miretti also replaced the absent Timothy Weah, who was missing due to a muscle injury.

Placing Miretti in the starting line-up turned out to be a golden move by Allegri, as the midfielder managed to break the ban for Juve after ten minutes. Fiorentina right back Fabiano Parisi misjudged a ball, after which Filip Kostic delivered a cross: 1-0.

The home team did not immediately advance. It gave Fiorentina the chance to fight back into the match. With half an hour left, Nicolás González issued a warning with a long shot that was saved with some effort by Wojciech Szczesny.

Just before half time, the Polish goalkeeper had to make another save from a dangerous free kick by Cristiano Biraghi.

After the break, Juve also failed to impress, although Allegri’s team managed to keep Fiorentina away from their own goal more easily. This meant that the home victory was no longer in danger.
