Paris Saint-Germain failed to beat Clermont Foot on Saturday evening. The players from the capital played a somewhat disappointing draw at home: 1-1. Leader PSG's lead over number two Stade Brest is still thirteen points, although Brest does have a game in hand. Clermont is bottom with 21 points.

It was striking that Kylian Mbappé started on the bench at the Parc des Princes. He was probably rested ahead of the Champions League quarter-final against FC Barcelona next Wednesday.

PSG largely dominated in the first half, but it was Clermont that took the lead after half an hour of play. Habib Keïta punished the home team's poor defending: 0-1.

The Parisians were unable to create many big chances, but seemed to equalize just before half time through seventeen-year-old Senny Mayulu. However, his goal was disallowed after VAR interference because it was said to have been preceded by a violation.

After halftime, PSG continued their search for the equalizer. However, Danilo Pereira saw his header go just wide, Achraf Hakimi hit the crossbar and Randal Kolo Muani's effort was cleared just before the line.

Halfway through the second half, both Mbappé and Marquinhos scored. For the former, this meant his three hundredth official match for the Parisians. Marquinhos played his 435th game for PSG, equaling Jean-Marc Pilorget's club record.

The home team continued to have chances to make it 1-1, and five minutes before the end they finally scored. Mbappé found Gonçalo Ramos, who beat goalkeeper Massamba Ndiaye in the bottom left corner. PSG would not come further.
