Joshua Brenet has raised eyebrows during FC Emmen – FC Twente (0-3). The 29-year-old right back of the Tukkers played with a chain for almost 54 minutes, which has been expressly prohibited by the KNVB since 2005. The arbitration in Emmen also seemed unaware of this for a long time.

With a 0-0 score, referee Martin van den Kerkhof gestured to Brenet to leave the field. This turned out to be because he was wearing a necklace, which has been banned since the 2005/06 season. The Van den Kerkhofs team had not noticed this before. Brenet handed over the jewel to Robin Pröpper, who brought it to the sidelines via fellow teammate Ricky van Wolfswinkel. It was kept there until after the game.

Remarkably enough, Brenet has already had a professional career of more than ten years. The two-time Oranje-international made his debut for PSV in the 2013/14 season and has since played no fewer than 154 Eredivisie matches. This season has been one of extremes for him. He has already scored seven goals as a right back and enjoys interest from Fulham, PSV and Feyenoord, among others, but was also removed from the selection due to disciplinary problems.
