Jordi Cruijff has indicated to Barcelona that he is pausing his work for a while. That writes Sport Monday afternoon. The Dutchman is jointly responsible for the technical policy of the brand new national champion of Spain, but was recently told that colleague Mateu Alemany will soon leave. Now Cruijff also wants to think about his future.

Barcelona became champion of Spain on Sunday evening thanks to a 2-4 victory at fellow townsman Espanyol. The revelry was great, but a day after the festivities the mood has changed. Cruijff would say Sport have indicated that he wants a break to consider his future at the club. After the departure of Alemany, colleague and bosom friend of Cruijff, knows the royal child not yet whether he himself wants to continue at Barcelona.

Last week, Cruijff was not present at the talks with Deco, the Portuguese former midfielder who would be brought to the Spotify Camp Nou as successor to Alemany to act as Cruijff’s right-hand man. The fact that the Dutchman is letting go of those conversations and a possible promotion seems to be the writing on the wall. Cruijff junior still has a contract with Barcelona until the end of next summer.

Should the son of the legendary number fourteen actually not continue at los Azulgrana, then that will be a hard blow for Xavi. The coach of the Catalans is said to be on very good terms with Cruijff and Xavi therefore hopes that he can continue working with the 49-year-old club director for a long time to come. The Barcelona club management also hopes that Cruijff decides to stay on, because he also has a good relationship with chairman Joan Laporta.
