The reactions from the football world to Max Verstappen’s world title in Formula 1 continue to pour in. John Guidetti, known for his successful employment at Feyenoord, speaks of a ‘joke’ on Twitter. The course of the decisive race surprises the current striker of Alavés.
“What a joke,” Guidetti tweeted. “Max did a great job, but I think it’s strange that you win the race because a driver crashes far from the top. But I’m no F1 connoisseur. Well done, Max.” Guidetti is referring to the denouement: Nicholas Latifi crashed at the end of the race, after which a safety car came onto the track. This allowed Verstappen to open a new attack on Lewis Hamilton with one lap to go.
Kylian Mbappe also seems to have been surprised: he reacts to the match with three blushing emojis. Ruud Gullit shows a photo of himself with Verstappen on Instagram and says he is ‘hugely proud’ of his compatriot. “Yeaaaaaaaaah,” writes Gullit.
