Johan Derksen is stunned by the coverage of the return of Today Inside on television. It General Newspaper wrote on Wednesday that the talk show of Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Derksen would be broadcast again from next Monday after an absence of two weeks. Reporter Jordi Versteegden from The Telegraph contacted both Derksen and Talpa, who both dismissed the reporting as ‘premature’.

Versteegden says in a video item from the newspaper that ‘the entire editorial team was turned upside down’ after the news of the General Newspaper† Tuesday reported The Telegraph even that there had been ‘serious talk about a return’ from Today Inside, but white smoke was still nowhere to be seen. Versteegden longed for clarification and called Derksen on Wednesday. “Johan said, ‘It’s a surprise to me too that it’s come out now’.”

The journalist also says he has contacted Talpa, the media company behind Today Inside. The reaction is shown in the video: “The reporting regarding a return of the Today Inside program on SBS6 is premature. We had a good conversation with the men last Sunday to look back in peace on the past weeks and what happened. As soon as there is more news to report, we will come back to this from SBS6.”

Versteegden believes that it General Newspaper is indeed right, and thinks that Derksen has spoken out of turn ‘as is often the case’. “I think they can be seen on Monday. That Monday does not suddenly fall out of the sky.” Versteegden also bases this position on a conversation with Genee that he also had on Wednesday. “I had a chat with Wilfred and said: ‘How do you feel about being back on Monday?’ He said: ‘I’m enjoying the rest for a while.’ Then I said: ‘So you still have a few days for that.’ ‘Yes, that’s right’, was the answer.”

The Telegraph already knew on Tuesday that there had been ‘serious talk about a return’. The newspaper reported that last weekend there was a conversation between Derksen, Genee, Van der Gijp and John de Mol to talk about the future of the talk show. Today Inside recently disappeared from the tube after Derksen joked that he used to be guilty of transgressive behavior. The television personality suppressed rumors of a possible return last week.

According to Versteegden, there was talk behind the scenes at Talpa about a return of Today Inside. “I’ve been trying to call him for weeks and now (Tuesday, ed.) He finally picked up his phone,” says Versteegden in an online video from the newspaper. “He pushed me away very often and this time he didn’t feel like talking to me, but the most important thing that emerged is that the three of them went to John de Mol’s office last Sunday to talk about the future of Today Inside.”

The program was not expected to return any time soon; Versteegden guessed after the summer at the earliest. “Johan didn’t want to say much about a possible opening for the future, but I could hear from his voice that some things have been discussed about what will go well,” said the entertainment reporter. “I think he will return to his statements in the last broadcast that there would be no room for ‘Team-Derksen’. He said: “I only now notice how we are in the market. We have been called by various stations in recent weeks. if we wanted to come to them. That’s good for your ego.'”

Derksen would have been approached by streaming services, among other things, since the end of Today Inside, but he denies that. “He also thinks it’s silly for the channels to name who it is,” said Versteegden. “René van der Gijp has said that the contracts have been dissolved and that they would be free. That could turn out to be lucrative for Wilfred Genee, that he would still go to Viaplay, for example. But that does not seem to be the case. still room.” In early November, there were rumors of a move from Genee to Viaplay. However, the presenter soon dismissed this as ‘nonsense’.

Last week, Derksen indicated that he had finally pulled the plug from the program. “I’ve stopped taking it and I’ll leave it at that”, was the short reaction of Derksen to the AP† “There may be conversations, but at least they aren’t with me.” Today Inside has been broadcast from Monday to Friday on SBS 6 since the beginning of this calendar year. This put an end to the trio’s previous talk show: Veronica Inside. In the new format, regular guests who had no direct connection with football joined. In 2001 the program was shown for the first time on Dutch television, albeit in a different form.
