FC Emmen booked a big win in the Kitchen Champion Division on Monday evening. At home, the team of trainer Dick Lukkien was too strong for Almere City 3-0. Jasin Assehnoun was the absolute star and took care of the entire Drenthe goal production. It was Almere City’s first game without the fired Gertjan Verbeek at the helm. His honors were observed by trainer Tim Bakens. Emmen, 33 points, regains third place and faces a 5 point deficit on leader FC Volendam.

Almere City seemed to get off to a good start, as Jonas Arweiler hit the mark in the third minute of play. However, the striker was offside when Lance Duijvestijn headed the ball through: goal disallowed. In the seventh minute it was on the other side. Thomas Poll hoped to intercept a pass from Rui Mendes. Instead, the former played the ball at Assehnoun’s feet, who finished off in a cool way: 1-0. That was the fence of the dam.

The second goal was found in the twentieth minute of play. After Jeredy Hilterman’s reverse attempt, the goal ended up at Assehnoun’s feet via goalkeeper Agil Etemadi. Once again it was a breeze for the left wing striker to score: 2-0. After half an hour of play, Hilterman got a new, excellent opportunity to put his name on the scoreboard. However, he was a toe-length short to give the desired follow-up to a cross from Mendes. In the second act Emmen walked even further away.

Hilterman accelerated while dribbling along the axis of the field, after which he played Assehnoun on the edge of the sixteen. The left winger cut in and curled the ball beautifully into the right corner: 3-0. With that, Assehnoun completed his ‘false’ hat-trick. In the remainder of the game, Emmen took the foot off the accelerator and Almere City had a few more chances. The biggest was for Maarten Pouwels, who saw his attempt turned back by goalkeeper Michael Brouwer.
