James Rodriguez is free again on a free transfer. The 31-year-old attacking midfielder sees his adventure in Greece come to an end after seven months. In good consultation with Olympiacos, his contract has been torn up. It is yet another disappointing employment for Rodriguez, who also left the Qatari Al-Rayyan prematurely in September last year.

“Olympiakos and James Rodriguez have decided to end their collaboration,” the club writes on social media. “James will always be a part of our club and a member of the red and white family. We would like to thank him for his services and wish him well for the future.” In total, the Colombian scored five goals for Olympiakos in twenty league matches.

After LaLiga, the Portuguese Primeira Liga, the Premier League, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the Argentinian Primera División and the Qatari Stars League, the Colombian added another competition to his rich resume with his transfer to Olympiacos last summer. It is not the first time that Rodriguez’s contract has been terminated early. The Qatari Al-Rayyan also tore up the commitment of the creative in September last year.

In 2009, Rodríguez, aged 17, became the youngest foreigner to score a goal in Argentina, on behalf of Banfield. Not long after, in July 2010, he left for FC Porto, which paid him 5.1 million euros. In 2013, AS Monaco knocked on the door and the Monegasques paid no less than 45 million for him. The former 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner enjoyed his most productive spells with Real Madrid and FC Porto. For the Royal he played 125 games and scored 37 goals and 42 assists.

In his time with the Portuguese, he scored 32 goals and was the successful principal 42 times. However, his playing time and productivity have become less and less in recent years. The periods at Bayern Munich as Everton were not very successful and that led to surprising transfers to Al-Rayyan and Olympiakos. Now he is transfer-free again.
