Manchester United booked their third consecutive win in the Premier League on Thursday evening. The team of manager Erik ten Hag was 0-1 too strong when visiting Leicester City. In the 23rd minute of play, Jadon Sancho provided the only goal of the match on a pass from Marcus Rashford. Climbing thanks to the win the Red Devils to fifth in the rankings, while Leicester is the last in England.

Once again, Ten Hag had not made a base for Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro, who also had to settle for a reserve role in the won game against Southampton. Tyrell Malacia was the only Dutchman to be on the field from the first whistle; Donny van de Beek started as a substitute and did not come inside the lines. Antony, who was presented by United on Thursday, was not yet in the selection.

The first serious chance of the match was scored in the eleventh minute of play. After very nice combination football over four discs, the ball ended up on the edge of the sixteen in front of Eriksen’s feet. The Dane looked for the bottom left corner, but his effort went just wide. The scoring was opened in the 23rd minute. After a lightning-fast transition, Rashford put the ball wide on Sancho, who coolly passed goalkeeper Danny Ward around and hit from close range: 0-1.

In the remainder of the first half, Rashford and Eriksen, among others, tried their luck, but there was no new goal. Leicester barely got around to playing football before half-time and only came close to the enemy goal with a shot from Harvey Barnes (next to). After the resumption came the Foxes better in the game. United managed to hold on and, without convincing in the second half, pulled the three points over the line.
