Ivan Toney made his return to Brentford on Saturday. The English striker was suspended for eight months for violating Premier League betting rules and made a successful return against Nottingham Forest. Toney needed less than nineteen minutes to score from a free kick. Brentford eventually won the match 3-2.

Toney has been sorely missed at Brentford in recent months. The Bees are having an extremely difficult season and had lost the last five league games prior to the meeting with Forest. Where Brentford climbed to the middle of the table in previous seasons, this season there is a threat of relegation.

Brentford fell behind in the third minute due to a goal from Forest midfielder Danilo. In the nineteenth minute a free kick followed for the home team on the edge of the penalty area. Toney saw the wall was not positioned properly and surprisingly curled the ball around it. Goalkeeper Matt Turner therefore had no chance.

With the victory, Brentford jumps up the rankings. Thomas Frank's team climbs from sixteenth to fourteenth place. Forest actually drops from fifteenth to sixteenth place.
