The ‘quarrel’ between Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo turns out to be a storm in a teacup. João Mário, their teammate with the Portuguese national team, said on Tuesday that the much-discussed fragment circulating on social media is the aftermath of a prank. Despite Ronaldo’s much-discussed interview with Piers Morgan, there would be no quarrel between him and Fernandes.

Ronaldo’s interview, in which he razes everything and everyone within Manchester United to the ground, has been dominating the internet for several days. It could also be the reason that the relationship between Fernandes – valued player of the Red Devils – and the star attacker has cooled off. Mário, however, says that none of this is true.

“I was in the dressing room at the time,” said the Benfica midfielder Record. “I’ve seen the images and it’s funny how they’re interpreted. It was a joke. Bruno was one of the last to arrive, and Cristiano asked him if he came by boat. I think their relationship is great, I got them Seen all day yesterday. There is no problem between them.”

Mário also thinks that Ronaldo’s interview will have no further consequences for Portugal’s World Cup performance. “Everyone here is motivated. There is not much to say about Ronaldo, it is not the first time that someone has joined the national team with a problem. One of the advantages of the national team is that everything fades into the background . We’re all thinking about the collective purpose here.” Portugal will practice against Nigeria next Thursday; exactly one week later, the first game in the World Cup group stage against Ghana is scheduled.
