Internazionale defeated Fiorentina in a wonderful football fight on Saturday evening with 3-4. Lautaro Martínez was the big man at Inter with two goals and an assist, which produced the winning goal in the 95th minute. There were basic places for André Onana and Stefan de Vrij and substitutes for Denzel Dumfries and Robin Gosens. The winning team is tied in points with number five Lazio.

Inter had a dream start in the Stadio Artemio Franchi. In the second minute, Martínez took full advantage of losing the ball in Fiorentina’s defense, and then set Nicolò Barella free in front of goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano with a nice cross ball. The goalkeeper of the home club had no answer to the bet with the outside of the foot of the midfielder, who already scored the 0-1 from just inside the sixteen. There was even more setback for Fiorentina, who saw attacker Nicolás González injured. Substitute Jonathan Ikoné immediately gave his business card with a bang that just flew over Inter’s goal. The same Ikoné failed shortly afterwards with a volley at the far post.

It was precisely Inter that managed to score again in the early stages. Martínez picked up the ball just over the halfway line, before starting a solo. Just about the entire defense of Fiorentina was shaken off, after which the Argentine striker put the ball from within the sixteen into the short corner: 0-2. Inter have scored at least once in the first half in all eleven league games so far, which no other club in Serie A has managed to do. Fiorentina’s comeback started after more than half an hour of play. Giacomo Bonaventura was knocked down in the penalty area by Federico Dimarco and after a check at the VAR, the ball landed on the spot. Onana had no chance on Arthur Cabral’s 11-meter bet: 1-2. Dimarco could have made up for his mistake a short time later, but in a promising position he was stopped by Terracciano.

Terracciano kept Fiorentina going three minutes after the break with a good save on a header from close range from Martínez. An attacking substitution for the home team followed, with midfielder Alfred Duncan making way for attacker Luka Jovic. With an hour on the clock, Fiorentina’s attacking intentions were rewarded. The well-subbed Ikoné topped off a nice solo from the right with a beautiful bang in the top corner: 2-2. Onana had no chance at all on the attacker’s bang. The joy was great with la Violabut it was Inter that ultimately had the final say.

Joaquín Correa was relieved by Edin Dzeko among the visitors. More than five minutes later, Dumfries and Gosens also made their entrance as substitutes. Dimarco and Matteo Darmian were pulled over by Simone Inzaghi. Inter regained the lead with just under twenty minutes to play. The breakthrough Martínez was knocked down by Terracciano and a penalty was awarded on the advice of the VAR. The Argentinian took responsibility himself and blasted the ball hard into the right corner: 2-3. Inter got away well shortly before time when a shot by Christian Kouamé just missed Onana’s goal. The battle-weary Sofyan Amrabat, who delivered a strong game against Inter’s midfield, was sidelined in the 83rd minute.

While Inter may have been thinking about an important away win in the last minutes, Fiorentina had other plans. A corner in the final minute went to Nikola Milenkovic, who managed to reach Jovic with a header from the edge of the box. The substitute striker then hit the target with an acrobatic volley: 3-3. Great joy at Fiorentina, who seemed to save a point in extremis. It all went wrong for the hosts in the fifth minute of stoppage time. After a quick counter, the ball ended up at Henrikh Mkhitaryan and through his shin, after Lorenzo Venuti tried to make a save, Inter made it 3-4. Due to the very late victory, Inzaghi’s team keeps in touch with the top clubs in Serie A.
