Internazionale booked a trouble-free victory in the Serie A on Sunday afternoon. The team of manager Simone Inzaghi got rid of Salernitana without too much trouble: 2-0. Lautaro Martínez and Nicolò Barella provided the Milanese goals. Stefan de Vrij was once again allocated a basic place in the Serie A.
At Inter, Denzel Dumfries was in his usual place on the right. De Vrij was once again in the starting line-up in Serie A. During Inter’s last two league games, he did not get any playing minutes, but he did play both Champions League matches against FC Barcelona. The Milan goal was defended by André Onana and Tonny Vilhena was in midfield with the visitors as usual.
The visitors started brutally and claimed a penalty after ten minutes after Boulaye Dia was floored in the box. However, the referee dismissed the claims. Four minutes later, Martínez produced his fourth league goal of the season. Barella lost to the Argentinian, who shot at goal from about twenty meters. His eye-catching shot had a nasty bounce, leaving Salernitana keeper Luigi Sepe without a chance. The home side pushed on, looking to double the score. Milan Skriniar, Edin Dzeko, Federico Dimarco and Martínez did not have their sights set on target. Krzysztof Piatek handed out a pinprick on behalf of Salernitana.
Immediately after the break, Martínez had another great chance, but his header went just over. A header from Dia on the other side was felined by Onana. Within fifteen minutes after tea, the score was 2-0. A brilliant cross pass from Hakan Calhanoglu was plucked out of the air by Barella in the box. With one movement he got rid of defender Lorenzo Pirola and hit the short corner. Because there seemed to be offside in the build-up, referee Juan Luca Sacchi was called to the VAR screen, but the goal stood. The visitors did not leave it at that and were close to the connecting goal via Federico Bonazzoli, but his effort missed the target. Shortly afterwards, Vilhena was substituted, Emil Bohinen took his place. Joaquin Correa was still close to 3-0 on behalf of Inter.
