Internazionale has given the Scudetto a dazzling sequel on Saturday evening. Antonio Conte’s team ruled Sampdoria in-house and triumphed 5-1. It already meant the fourteenth victory in a row at home for the Milanese: a new club record. The previous record was dated May 2011, when thirteen games were won in a row. Sampdoria has been played as number nine in the ranking. The team has not played for anything in the last three games, as it is ten points behind number seven AS Roma.

The last time Inter lost a game in Serie A was on January 6, when Sampdoria was too strong 2-1. What followed was an impressive run of eighteen unbeaten games in Serie A. There was only lost to Juventus (1-2) in the battle for the Coppa Italia. On Saturday evening, Conte’s team had little trouble with Sampdoria and were quickly taken the lead. Roberto Gagliardini was custom served by Ashley Young, found room for the shot and controlled the ball in the right corner for the opening goal. Twenty minutes later, Gagliardini was the principal when he found Alexis Sánchez on the edge of the penalty area and watched the Chilean double the score.

Inter had nothing to fear from Sampdoria in the first half, but had to swallow the tying goal ten minutes before half-time. Baldé Keita was in the right place from a rebound and left goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, who was replaced by Andrei Radu at the break, without a chance. For a long time, however, the visitors could not enjoy the tension, because Sánchez took care of his second goal of the evening barely a minute later. The attacker suddenly took a cross from the right side of the field from Achraf Hakimi with the inside of the foot and saw how goalkeeper Emil Audero had no chance for the third time: 3-1.

Inter was also the parent in the second company. Nicolò Barella got the ball on the left side and whipped the ball to Andrea Pinamonti, after which the latter checked and managed to finish face to face with Audero. It meant his first goal for the attacker in the shirt of Inter. Sampdoria had never been dangerous for Inter’s goal until then and had to watch Lautaro Martínez set the final score. The winger was allowed to build from eleven meters after referee Giovanni Ayroldi pointed to the spot after a foul by Omar Colley: 5-1.
