Inter Milan won the Milan derby on Saturday evening. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was the big man on Inter’s side with two goals and an assist, but the best goal came from Marcus Thuram. Denzel Dumfries was also important with an assist for Inter, which went into the dressing room with a 2-0 lead. After the break, Rafael Leão brought AC Milan back into the match, but thanks to goals from Mkhitaryan, Hakan Calhanoglu and Davide Frattesi, i Nerazzurri in the second half to a clear 5-1 victory. Inter remains clear in Serie A and thus regains the top position.
At Inter, Dumfries, who played a great international match with the Dutch national team, was of course assigned a starting place by coach Simone Inzaghi. Within five minutes, Mkhitaryan opened the score on behalf of Inter. After a nice combination with Olivier Giroud, Theo Hérnandez soloed past the Inter defense in a dazzling manner, but out of balance the defender was unable to get the ball on target. However, AC Milan’s resistance was quickly suppressed. After a nice short combination on the right flank, Hakan Calhanogu opened the ball to the other side, where MartÃnez threatened but still passed the ball to Mkhitaryan. The Armenian’s shot, after being touched by Malik Thiaw, ended up behind Mike Maignan: 3-1. Shortly afterwards things got even worse for the red-black Milanese. Calhanoglu made it 4-1 with a penalty kick, after which Frattessi made the final score 5-1 on a pass from Mkhitaryan. Inter achieved its fifth derby victory in a row.
