PSV cannot have Mauro Júnior in the top match against Ajax on Sunday. The attacking midfielder cum left back has injured his knee during a previous training, he let his followers know via Instagram.
“So disappointed to miss tomorrow’s game”, Mauro Júnior writes with a photo on his Instagram Stories. It shows that the 21-year-old Brazilian is wearing a fabric knee brace around his left leg. What exactly is going on with Mauro Júnior’s knee, and how long the multifunctional player will be absent, is as yet unclear.
Mauro Júnior’s injury is another setback for Roger Schmidt. The PSV trainer did not appeal to the South American in only four Eredivisie games this season, who remarkably enough played as a left back, right back, attacking midfielder and striker. PSV will also have to do without the injured Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke and the suspended Ibrahim Sangaré against Ajax.
