Latest update:

Mats Hummels is absolutely dissatisfied with the arbitration that had to guide the match between PSV and Borussia Dortmund (1-1). On X he reacts angrily to the penalty given by Srdjan Jovanovic.

“Twitter (former name of platform “What a joke of a penalty against us!”

“I can't believe decisions like today's,” the veteran continues. In his tweet, Hummels obviously refers to the penalty moment, in which he himself launched a sliding into the box. The marker played the ball away from Malik Tillmann's feet and then grazed the American on his foot.

However, referee Jovanovic did not hesitate and placed the ball relentlessly on the spot. The video referee also did not intervene, after which Luuk de Jong eagerly unwrapped the present and thus determined the final score at 1-1.

Afterwards, the PSV players also felt blessed by the easily awarded penalty. De Jong called the penalty 'debatable', after which Joey Veerman said that PSV 'had the VAR on their side for once'.

In his tweet, the stopper also refers to penalties against Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Against Chelsea (last season), Danny Makkelie was the culprit in Hummels' eyes. After VAR intervention, he had a missed penalty taken over, which resulted in a goal and a 2-0 loss.

Hummels also felt disadvantaged after the match against PSG in the group stage of the Champions League. After an alleged handball by Niklas Süle, the ball hit the spot. Kylian Mbappé scored and led his team to a 2-0 victory.

Hummels also reported angrily then X. “A bad game from us and a deserved victory from PSG. But the referees did not help with many bad decisions such as the penalty.”
