Jordy Best has announced that he has not seen Mohamed Ihattaren since December. In the second half of last calendar year, the personal trainer started working with the midfielder, who according to Best was ‘on the right track’ but suddenly let the contact ‘dilute’. In conversation with the General Newspaper Best comes with an update on the developments around Ihattaren.

Tuesday evening it reported General Newspaper that the midfielder, owned by Juventus, is well on his way to FC Utrecht. According to the newspaper, the number seven in the Eredivisie is in advanced talks with Juventus about a rental period of one and a half years. Ihattaren was based at Sampdoria in the first half of the season, but never played for that club. To work on his fitness, Ihattaren turned up at Best in the autumn of last calendar year. The personal trainer, who has experience in guiding professional football players, started working with Ihattaren.

Although it was initially a hopeful situation, according to Best, the trainer quickly lost contact with the creative midfielder. “Mohamed called in November that he was back in the Netherlands and wanted to work with me,” Best tells the General Newspaper. “I had trained a few times with him a year and a half before and apparently it went well. In November and December I guided Ihattaren one on one for several weeks. I could clearly see that he hadn’t done anything for a while. I tried to get him fit by working with the ball a lot. Mohamed is a positive boy, who trained hard and seriously, loves to have fun and quickly made good progress.”

However, at some point it went wrong. “He was well on his way to getting fit. In the conversations I had with him, I noticed that his mindset changed. He really had a purpose in mind. But after a few weeks, our contact dwindled. In December, Mohamed suddenly stopped being heard,” concludes Best, who does not seem to know where Ihatteren is at the moment.
