AC Milan dealt with low-flyer Venezia on Sunday without too much effort: 0-3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic already signed in the second minute for his first goal of 2022. With the easy and spacious victory outdoors, AC Milan has in every sense taken the lead from neighbor and title competitor Internazionale. The difference is 2 points (48 to 46), although Inter have played two games less. The number two will play against Lazio at home on Sunday evening.

The visitors from Milan started the away game against Venezia fiercely and already in minute 2 the ban was broken. Left back Theo Hernández gave a beautiful pass to Rafael Leão, who dived into the penalty area from the left. His pass was then a prey for Ibrahimovic and his striker on the goal line was the start of an easy afternoon for AC Milan. The leading role in the first half was for star Hernández. His free kick after almost half an hour of play was nicely tapped over the bar by Sergio Romero. Venezia could keep hoping with a 0-1 score, but shortly after the break AC Milan put things in order.

In the 48th minute, the unleashed Hernández went forward again. Rafael Leão saw the fullback enter the penalty area and came up with a nice through ball. Hernández remained cool and then left Romero without a chance with a hard bang in the short corner: 0-2. The French left-back doubled his share after an hour of play. Michael Svoboda stopped his shot from close range with his hand and the center defender of Venezia was allowed to leave immediately with a red card. Hernández was allowed to aim and used the awarded penalty, although the ball was still touched by Romero towards the top right corner.

After the 0-3 AC Milan was on roses and trainer Stefano Pioli decided to give some players a rest. Rafael Leão was replaced by Ante Rebic and Olivier Giroud took over from Ibrahimovic. The new list leader played the meeting with the poor Venezia calmly and now has to wait for the result of Inter on Sunday evening. On Thursday, the home game against Genoa in the eighth final of the Coppa Italia awaits. Juventus will visit the San Siro on January 23 and the confrontation with Inter awaits on February 6.
