Johan Bakayoko’s interview after the won match against Fortuna Sittard (3-1) took a striking turn. After analyzing the PSV winger, reporter Hans Kraay junior asked about Bakayoko’s contract status in the Philips Stadium, after which the Belgian international came up with a striking answer. He seemed to be talking his mouth off.

Bakayoko played an important role on Saturday evening, as he acted as a marker for Guus Til’s 1-0 and scored the 3-0 with a deflected shot from outside the penalty area.

Last transfer summer, various clubs hoped to tempt Bakayoko into a move, but ultimately the winger decided to remain loyal to PSV. The people of Eindhoven promised to upgrade the contract, but have not yet officially reported any new agreements.

On Saturday evening, Bakayoko seemed to indicate that PSV has indeed offered an improved contract, but while he spoke in front of the camera of ESPN the attacker seemed to go back on his words.

“Your agent has been spotted and I think you still have a contract until mid-2026. Are you going to renew?” Kraay Jr. wondered. Bakayoko came up with a striking answer.

“I’ve already done it, but I thought: I’ll keep it within PSV,” Bakayoko revealed, who then seemed to regret his revelation. “Well it hasn’t been renewed, but I don’t know how to explain it.”

“How should I say it? Don’t know. I really don’t know what you call it, but I’ve already done it. I’ll explain it another time, Hans. Did I get something in my back pocket? Definitely,” Bakayoko concluded.
