Ruud Gullit does not understand why Mohammed Kudus does not get the chance at Ajax as an attacking midfielder, says the analyst in the Ziggo Sports Football Café. The Amsterdammer sees the perfect number 10 for Ajax in the 22-year-old Ghanaian and hopes that he will get another chance in that position from trainer Alfred Schreuder.

“It’s still a mystery to me why Kudus doesn’t play in midfield,” Gullit begins his argument. “I find it so strange that you are going to drag him and that he has to be in the striker. That boy has so much energy, he does his job there too. It’s a midfielder. That’s how he came. In the beginning he was great, really great. Then he got injured, but now he’s back. Why doesn’t he play in midfield?”

Gullit does think that Schreuder has shown against Rangers (1-3 win) that he dares to choose his best eleven. “The decision not to let Daley play was a very difficult one. PSV will of course be a very tough job. If he gets a good result from that, with the team he has in mind, then you cultivate goodwill.” At Ibrox, Daley Blind was passed and Owen Wijndal left a strong impression.

The question is whether Brian Brobbey will return to striker against PSV next Sunday. The twenty-year-old goal thief struggled with a minor injury this week, which allowed Kudus to start in Glasgow. The Ghanaian left leg played eighteen official matches for Ajax this season, in which he was good for ten hits and two assists. Kudus scored almost all of his goals as a striker. Brobbey has scored eight goals after seventeen games and was the principal three times.
