Arne Slot hopes that Robin van Persie will one day become head coach of Feyenoord. The all-time top scorer of the Dutch national team was admitted to the UEFA Pro training course on Tuesday. If Van Persie finally obtains his diploma in the 2023/24 season, he can work as a head coach at a professional club.

Van Persie unveiled Tuesday in the in the Joe Cole podcast from BT Sport that he wants to become head coach of Feyenoord one day. The former professional footballer of Arsenal and Manchester United, among others, is currently still a trainer of Feyenoord Under 16. Slot praised Van Persie at the press conference of the Rotterdam team in the run-up to Sunday’s Eredivisie match with FC Volendam. “I think it would be great if he ever becomes head coach of Feyenoord.”

Slot calls Van Persie, among other things, a very nice person. “In addition, he is extremely driven and wants to get the best out of his players. It would be fantastic for Feyenoord in the long run, because he does not have his papers yet. I also only like it when colleagues have that ambition, then they also want to put a lot of time and energy into it. As the current person with final responsibility, I also benefit from this. With the person Robin van Persie as head coach you have no fear that he would do things that do not make you happy, because he is such a nice person.”

Van Persie gave Tuesday in the Joe Cole podcast to be really looking forward to the training and not being able to wait until he has his diploma. “Hopefully I will start on that in June next year. That gives me the freedom to become a trainer at any level. Now I can train all teams up to the Under 21. The former footballer also discussed his future ambitions. “I grew up with this club as a kid. I would love to become a Feyenoord trainer someday,” said van Persie, who jokingly says that he does not want to get in the way of Arne Slot. “Arne Slot knows that I am not dangerous to him. I don’t have a clear goal in mind that I want to become a head coach in five years, for example. I enjoy training and working with tactics.”
