Marciano Vink thinks Mario Götze should show himself more at PSV. The team from Eindhoven regained the lead in the Eredivisie on Saturday evening by beating Vitesse 2-0 at home. However, according to the analyst, the midfielder was largely invisible and should show more return ‘around sixteen’.

“I still think that Götze, who is also admired at this table, just brings too little,” says Vink after the match. The Grandstand. “PSV played a very good first half, but I just don’t see him enough for the status he has. That should be many times higher. He should give those sting balls to Bruma and maybe to Ritsu Doan. He plays soccer and once he tries to sprint with Bruma, who waits and waits, but he was too fast (for Götze, ed.). Then Bruma loses the ball, because he cannot pass the ball to Götze on the side.”

All in all, according to Vink, Götze brings too little to Eindhoven. “Maybe it’s because of his injuries, but I just miss the return, then I’m not talking about goals, but really about returns around sixteen,” continues Vink. According to the analyst, the midfielder has to take PSV in tow now that the infirmary is overcrowded. “I think it’s a shame for the talent, but also for the qualities he has. PSV really needs him at this stage. There are going to be really difficult matches and then he just has to be there. He is not doing that wrong at the moment.”

After PSV’s win, Vink also talks about Carlos Vinícius, who was important with an assist on Bruma’s 2-0. “Ultimately, you will also be judged on the goals you make,” the analyst says. “Of course it’s fantastic that he plays football well, that he lays out the balls, but in the final phase he only goes to the keeper and around it. Regardless of whether it is offside or not, he just has to make that ball. You will be judged on that in a full stadium.”
