Gift Orban is having an excellent second half of the season with AA Gent in the Jupiler Pro League. The twenty-year-old Nigerian, who came over from the Norwegian Stabaek last winter, can be called a true sensation for the Belgians with nineteen goals in as many matches. Orban is already carefully considering his next step, immediately ruling out Arsenal. “They don’t like to win titles,” said the striker laughingly in conversation with The newspapaer.

Things have gone really fast for Orban this season. The striker was taken over by Stabaek from Nigeria’s Bison FC last summer, after which he scored nineteen times and seven assists in 24 games for the Norwegians. Ghent had seen enough in the winter and paid more than 3.5 million euros for him. Orban is already cautiously dreaming of a future transfer to the Premier League, his dream competition.

“I dream of the Premier League and of Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City,” the striker said in conversation with The newspapaer. “I don’t like Arsenal that much, they don’t like to win titles,” he laughs. “That’s how it went for ten years under Arsène Wenger: getting players and then selling them on. I want to play for a club that competes for the prizes. At Real Madrid they don’t have time to play tiki-taka, they just win prizes there.”

Orban says his possible next step will have nothing to do with money. “I want to experience football and not sit in a stadium somewhere with a few people watching you. Then you have a lot of money, but you don’t feel like playing football,” said the striker of Ghent. “When you are 35 you can still collect money that way, but as a young player you want to be happy.” Orban, who according to Transfer market is now worth nine million euros, still has a contract with Ghent until mid-2027.
