Marquinhos has extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. As a result, the 29-year-old Brazilian is now with the club from the French capital until mid-2028. Marquinhos has been playing for PSG since 2013. Only two players came to more duels for the club, so it is not inconceivable that the defender will break the club record in the long term.

The counter now stands at 405 official duels for Marquinhos. Only teammate Marco Verratti, who extended his contract in December until mid-2026, and Jean-Marc Pilorget came to more duels: 413 to 435. So it seems at least a matter of time before Pilorget’s current club record, set between 1975 and 1989 played for PSG is broken.

“I am very happy to announce this contract extension, but also very proud,” said Marquinhos. “This is a very special moment for me. Paris Saint-Germain has always given me a lot of confidence and I also have a lot of confidence in this club. I am convinced that we will continue to achieve great things together in the coming years.” The French L’Equipe reports that Marquinhos will earn 14.5 million euros gross per year.

The right leg, who has been captain of the French leader since 2020, came over from AS Roma in 2013. Since then he achieved great success with PSG. For example, the French national title was won seven times, and the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue each six times. On Sunday, the 76-time international can win his eighth national title with PSG, if AJ Auxerre wins and competitor RC Lens drops points against Lorient.
