Lionel Messi gives text and explanation about his first year with Paris Saint Germain. After a rough start and difficulty with the critical approach of the audience, he has now found his niche. The Argentinian says he had to get used to his new French environment, partly because he didn’t really want to leave Barcelona.

“I’ve been in the same place all my life,” Messi said in conversation with TyC Sports† “I didn’t want to leave, I never suggested it and I felt really good in Barcelona. I never had plans to change that. I had everything in Barcelona. As a person and as a footballer.” Yet this was not the only reason why his start at PSG was difficult. “Suddenly I had to get used to a different way of playing. All my life I did it through one philosophy. I knew everything by heart. Suddenly this was all new. I also arrived late at the club, got an injury and suffered from a corona infection. In the end I didn’t even manage to play three or four games in a row.”

In addition, Messi was viewed very critically by the public in Paris. Sometimes even resulting in a flute concert from the stands. “Whisting is also new to me. I didn’t know that at all at Barcelona. It is understandable that you will whistle if our team and our players are once again eliminated from the Champions League in such a way,” Messi refers to the lost diptych with Real Madrid. “In the end, it doesn’t matter whether I agree or disagree that Neymar and I were whistled. It’s over now.”

Messi, however, is not thinking of throwing in the towel next season. Now that he has mastered the language more, acclimatized in Paris and in the PSG dressing room, he is out for sporting revenge. “Everything will be different this year. I’m already prepared for what’s to come. I don’t want to feel like I switched clubs and it didn’t work in the end. I can bend next season, next season everything will be different.”
