Rafael Leão thinks he is as good as Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo, he said in an interview with the Italian branch of Sky Sports. The Portuguese striker says he is not considered among the best in the world because he is 'not selfish'.

Leão states in the conversation that Ronaldo is his great idol. The AC Milan left forward says that in modern football, the number of goals is mainly taken into account. “I can reach Ronaldo's level, but I am not selfish.”

Leão continues: “I am a player who can score and provide assists. If someone else is in a better position, I will give him the ball.” The 24-year-old attacker has made 183 appearances for the Milanese so far. He scored 47 goals in those matches and was the scorer 41 times.

In the interview, Leão also discusses his bond with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with whom he won the Italian national title in 2021. “If I had a good game, he didn't say anything to me. If I played poorly, he let me know and gave me positive pressure.”

“He helped me a lot,” the Portuguese continues. “We are all happy that he is back. He is an important person for me, actually for everyone at the club.” Although Zlatan has hung up his football boots, he remains associated with the club as an advisor.

Milan was eliminated from the Champions League on a thrilling final day. The team of coach Stefano Pioli finished third in the group with Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain. I Rossoneri will play in the interim round of the Europa League after the winter break.

“We really want to win that tournament,” Leão reveals. “Ibrahimovic won it (with Manchester United, ed.). He will pass on his experience to us so that we can win the tournament.”
