Kaj Sierhuis will no longer be in action this season, Heracles Almelo announced on Tuesday. The attacker was injured on Friday evening, shortly after he had scored the winning goal in the home game against FC Utrecht (1-0). A scan in the hospital makes it clear that Sierhuis has torn his anterior cruciate ligament, which means that he will have to rehabilitate in the coming months and can put a line through this vintage.

“This is a huge blow through the bill”, sighed the heavily disappointed Sierhuis on Tuesday in a response to the Heracles website. “I feel like I got better and better at it and then this happens…. My season is over and that means a worthless end to my period at this beautiful club. After all, I have been hired until next summer. I will continue to support the team as a supporter And I am convinced that the boys will end the season well.”

Sierhuis scored four goals and three assists in eighteen games in the Heracles shirt in the 2021/22 season. The rental deal with the club from Almelo expires on June 30 and it is intended that the 23-year-old striker will return to Stade Reims. Due to the serious injury, it is not inconceivable that Sierhuis will already return to the French club to start his rehabilitation there.
