Goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi of RB Leipzig will not look back with a good feeling on Tuesday evening’s game against Shakhtar Donetsk. The keeper led to the 1-4 defeat of his team with a huge blunder. In Scotland, Real Madrid won 0-3 against Celtic, with the home side unable to capitalize on a number of great opportunities.

RB Leipzig v Shakhtar Donetsk 1-4
The first big chance of the game was for the home side. André Silva gave a hard cross at the near post to Christopher Nkunku, but his effort was met by goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. After fifteen minutes of play it was Shakhtar who took the lead thanks to Péter Gulácsi of RB Leipzig. The keeper was more than thirty meters in front of his goal, but tapped the ball in front of Maryan Shved. The attacker didn’t think twice and shot the ball from a great distance into the empty goal: 0-1.

In the second act, RB Leipzig put things in order. Silva made himself available between the lines and then passed the ball to Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian immediately tapped to Mohamed Simakan, who shot the ball hard past Trubin: 1-1. For a long time, however, the Germans could not enjoy the equalizer. Less than a minute later, Shakhtar took the lead again thanks to Shved. His shot was changed direction, so Gulácsi had no chance: 1-2. Fifteen minutes before the end Mykhaylo Mudryk found it just after a counter: 1-3, while ex-Ajacied Lassina Traoré put the final score on the board five minutes before the end: 1-4.

Celtic v Real Madrid 0-3
The Spaniards became really dangerous for the first time after eleven minutes. Vinicius Junior set up a counter through Luka Modric. The midfielder then sent the Brazilian deep and saw the ball land at his own feet after a totally failed volley by Karim Benzema. Modric fired in one shot, but his shot was intercepted en route. Celtic were closest to the opening goal in the first half. Georgios Giakoumakis, ex-striker of VVV-Venlo, acted as a point of contact and passed the ball to Callum McGregor. The midfielder shot hard at the post from twenty meters. Vinicius then only went to Joe Hart, but the Brazilian was unable to pass the goalkeeper from a difficult angle.

Two minutes after the break, Celtic’s Daizen Maeda had the opening goal on his foot. Josip Juranovic served the Japanese with a hard cross, but Maeda hit the ball completely wrong, allowing Thibaut Courtois to save quite easily. Real Madrid took the lead in the 56th minute. Federico Valverde served Vinicius with a low cross that was long underway. The Brazilian then only had to push the ball in: 0-1. Four minutes later it was hit again for the Madrilenians. Eden Hazard dribbled into the axis of the field and saw Modric come up from the right. The Croat cut out Greg Taylor and shot past Hart with the outside on the right: 0-2. Hazard was also accurate at Celtic Park after Dani Carvajal returned the ball to the Belgian from the back line: 0-3.
