Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement on Diogo Jota. Among others The Athletic, The Times and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano report Friday night that the Reds a fixed transfer fee of EUR 43 million for the Portuguese attacker. As part of the agreement, Ki-Jana makes the transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers, which will pay at least 9.8 million euros for the defender. Earlier in the day Liverpool already strengthened with Thiago Alcántara, who was taken over from Bayern Munich.

The name of Hoever was given by the Daily Mail Friday afternoon already associated with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but then there was no question that he would be involved in the transfer from Jota to Liverpool. In the following hours, several reliable journalists reported that the reigning champion of England was concretely interested in the services of the 23-year-old wing attacker. Now, among others, Romano and The Athletic reported an agreement on Jota, which will soon be medically inspected at Anfield.

Liverpool pays a fixed transfer fee of 43 million euros, which can rise to 47 million euros due to bonuses. This bonus construction is related to its number of matches and the performance of the Reds in the Champions League and the Premier League. At the same time, Wolverhampton sees Wanderers going the other way, already paying the Wolves a transfer fee for him. Liverpool will receive a fixed transfer fee of 9.8 million euros for the eighteen-year-old defender, which can be increased by 4.9 million euros through bonuses. There is also a transfer fee of fifteen percent for Hoever, who was also coveted by Juventus and Atlético Madrid. Liverpool didn’t want to lose Hoever, but the youth international of the Dutch national team had set its sights on being able to play in a first team somewhere.

It means that Hoever’s employment with Liverpool comes to an end after two years. The reigning champion of England picked the youngster up at Ajax in the summer of 2018. Last year, against Wolverhampton of all places, Hoever became the youngest player ever of the Reds in the FA Cup at the age of sixteen. In the past season Hoever in action three more times on behalf of the main force of Liverpool, twice in the EFL Cup and once in the FA Cup. During the Premier League game against Watford in February of this year, he was also part of the selection of manager Jürgen Klopp, but he did not make an official debut in the English league at the time.

So Jota goes the other way around and starts signing a five-year contract. Manager Jürgen Klopp has been charmed by him for a long time, so it sounds. The four-time Portuguese international has to give an extra option in the front line behind Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. Wolverhampton Wanderers is making substantial profits on Jota, as he was taken over from Atlético Madrid two years ago after a fourteen million euro lease. The attacker previously wore the jersey of FC Porto, FC Paços de Ferreira and Gondomar. On behalf of Wolverhampton Wanderers he scored 44 goals and 19 assists in 131 official matches.
