Wayne Rooney urges Marcus Rashford to stay at Manchester United. Rashford has scored 93 goals in 297 official appearances, but has to make do with a supporting role at Old Trafford this season. Rooney, who is United’s all-time club goalscorer with 253 goals, believes Rashford can improve his record if he regains his best form.

Rashford is having his worst season with the Red Devils since he broke through at Old Trafford five years ago. In 26 appearances in all competitions, the attacker managed to find the net just five times. Rashford has lost his starting spot under interim manager Ralf Rangnick due to his lack of form, fueling rumors of a possible departure next summer.

Rooney had 13 successful years at United between 2004 and 2017. The Derby County manager believes Rashford should not choose to leave to regain his confidence. Rooney believes the 46-time England international is able to break his club record of 253 goals for United. “Getting that record in your hands is natural f***ng great,” Rooney told The Sun

“What I hope is that Rashford gets his fucking head out of his ass and breaks that record. Rashford is a child of the club,” continues the club icon. Due to his dissatisfaction with United, the attacker has been linked by English media with a transfer to Arsenal in recent days. National coach Gareth Southgate decided not to select Rashford last week for the exhibition matches against Switzerland (2-1 win) and Ivory Coast. Rashford still has a contract with United until mid-2023, although the club has an option to extend for another year.
