Latest update:

sc Heerenveen knows what winning is again. After five competition matches without a win, the Frisians proved to be too strong for Heracles Almelo in the Erve Asito: 0-2. The schlemiel on the home team's side was Sven Sonnenberg, who set up Ché Nunnely's opening goal with a blunder.

Erwin van de Looi was forced to make one change in his team compared to the match against Sparta Rotterdam (1-2 win) last week. The suspended Justin Hoogma was replaced by the returned Brian de Keersmaecker. At SC Heerenveen, Osame Sahraoui was missing, while Hussein Ali took the place of the suspended Oliver Braude.

After a strong start by the home team, it was the visitors who took the lead in Almelo. This was due to a serious mistake by Sonnenberg. The center back wanted to pass the ball back to his goalkeeper, but did so far too softly. The shrewd Nunnely took full advantage and poked the ball past Michael Brouwer: 0-1.

After the opening goal, Heerenveen took control a little more firmly and created the necessary opportunities to expand the margin. Pawel Bochniewicz was close to a second goal, after which a great deep ball from Patrik Wålemark also almost resulted in a goal. Brouwers' foot prevented Nunnely from hitting the target again.

Just before half time, Heracles came closest to the equalizer. An excellent free kick from Ajdin Hrustic was extended with the foot by Sonnenberg, but the stopper was disappointed to see the ball explode on the crossbar.

Even after the tea break, Heerenveen quickly became threatening. After a fine attack, Pelle van Amersfoort had to acknowledge his superiority in Brouwer. A completely detached Luuk Brouwers was also unable to convert a corner kick with his head into a goal, while a long shot from Thom Haye ended up on Brouwer's fists.

Heracles offered few concrete opportunities in return. Van de Looi's team did not get further than a blocked shot by Hrustic for quite some time. Until Mohamed Sankoh came on. The attacker had not even been on the field for a minute before he had the ball in the net.

However, the goal did not count, as Sankoh scored from an offside position. It took VAR a moment to check that decision, as the ball landed at Sankoh's feet via Simon Olsson. However, the Swede never had the ball under control: the goal was disallowed.

But the supporters in the Erve Asito bounced back. It provided a mega opportunity for Jizz Hornkamp. After a nice through ball from Hrustic, the striker had the choice of the corner, but he aimed wide. On the other hand, Van Amersfoort decided the game in the final phase. The center forward simply headed in a corner kick from Haye and ended the game with his tenth goal of the season: 0-2.

Unlucky Sankoh was also denied a second goal in injury time. Bochniewicz misjudged the ball and Sankoh rounded, but the Pole was relieved to be saved by the flag.
