Florentino Pérez is dismayed at the way Real Madrid showed up on Tuesday evening, reports SportThe Royal didn’t even come close to the enemy’s goal on a visit to Paris Saint-Germain and came away well with a 1-0 defeat over the entire game. President Pérez is deeply disappointed in Carlo Ancelotti, who has to fear for his trainer job.

Although Ancelotti claimed otherwise afterwards, Real came to Paris to defend a 0-0 draw. The team collapsed and hoped in the counter for a whim that would never come. The statistics are indicative of the abominable performance of the Spaniards: zero shots on target. The embarrassment leads according to Sport much to the fury of Real’s leadership. Before that, Pérez would have been disappointed in the ‘bad football’ played under Ancelotti and the defeat in Paris definitively shook the Italian’s position.

Ancelotti was appointed to Real last summer and then signed for three seasons. The Italian was already second choice to Pérez, who first tried to bring in Antonio Conte. Ancelotti was already coach of Real between 2013 and 2015 and gained international experience at other top clubs. The coach also started quite well, winning the Supercopa in January by dealing with Barcelona and Athletic Club. Real also seems to be on the way to a new championship, although this is partly due to the failing competition.

Ancelotti’s results in LaLiga have declined in the last month. Real were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Ahtletic and have won only two of their last five games in the competition. Still, the leader still has a margin of four points over Sevilla and even eleven points over number three Real Betis. However, national success alone is not enough for Pérez and an early Champions League elimination would be an unmitigated disaster for the president. Much will depend on the return against PSG in three weeks at the Santiago Bernabéu.
