Valentijn Driessen is very pleased with Arne Slot. The journalist even believes that the 45-year-old coach is the best trainer he has experienced in the Netherlands. However, Driessen also has a point of criticism of Slot, who will exchange Feyenoord for an employment contract with Liverpool.

“He also deserves criticism every now and then, because every now and then he also talks nonsense,” Driessen begins in the podcast Kick Off of the Telegraph. “In fact, all the strikers that Slot has had under his charge do not function properly.”

Driessen is referring to Bryan Linssen, Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Santiago Gimenez. “There are players in other positions that Slot has taken to a much higher level.”

“With Gimenez, after the first half of the season you thought: There is finally a striker who fits perfectly into Slot's system and who also delivers. But in the second half of the season we didn't see Gimenez at all. I saw that Japanese man (Ayase Ueda, ed.) at work on Thursday against Go Ahead Eagles, that doesn't make you happy either.”

Liverpool hopes to complete Slot's move to England this weekend. Presenter Pim Sedee wonders whether Slot wants to work with star player Mohamed Salah after Driessen's critical words.

“The first person to immediately kick Slot out is Mo Salah, of course,” answers the football chief The Telegraph.

Driessen believes that Slot is considering taking just one player from Feyenoord to Liverpool. “You also look at positions. When Hartman has recovered from his knee injury, they will already have Robertson as a left back. Virgil van Dijk likes to play on the left in the center of defense. If he leaves Liverpool later, I would dare to go with Dávid Hancko.”
