Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has reacted to the recent statements by Javier Tebas. The LaLiga president did not have a good word on Saturday for the behavior of Paris Saint-Germain in the contract extension of Kylian Mbappe. Tebas spoke on Twitter as shame of the amount with which the star attacker was persuaded to stay in Paris, given the millions of losses suffered by PSG in recent years. In particular, chairman Nasser Al Khelaïfi had to suffer in his account.
Mbappe discussed his choice to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain during a press conference on Monday. The French star attacker was joined at the press moment by Al-Khelaïfi, who responded to Tebas’s harsh statements. “Maybe Tebas is afraid that Ligue 1 will become stronger than LaLiga, which is not the same as three or four years ago,” said the PSG chairman.
“We have Mbappe, he stays with us and I honestly don’t care about the rest,” continued Al-Khelaïfi, who contradicted that the 23-year-old attacker has chosen the French superpower because of the money. “Money is not the most important thing for Kylian. There is a club in Spain that can pay him much more than us… Kylian has chosen the sporting project.”
Tebas was blown away by the Paris contract offer, which, according to him, should not have been done at all. “What PSG is doing by extending Mbappe’s contract with large amounts of money (which we know from where and how PSG is paying him), after losing EUR 700 million over the past few years and paying EUR 600 million in wages, is an INSULT to the football, the driver wrote on Twitter on Saturday: “Al-Khelaifi is as dangerous as the Super League.”
The LaLiga president’s anger was also evident in the official statement of the top Spanish football body that came out on Saturday. In it, LaLiga said it would sue PSG with the administrative and tax authorities of UEFA, the French and European authorities. “This is a scandal,” said Tebas and his associates.
