Roger Schmidt hopes that Noni Madueke is wise enough to remain loyal to PSV for at least another season. According to the coach, the wing attacker can still learn a lot in Eindhoven in various areas. Madueke got through on Thursday BILD named as a possible successor to Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund. PSV would demand at least fifteen million euros for the winger, who is still fixed until mid-2024.

“He has a lot of potential, but still needed some experience. He was able to gain that experience this season”, Schmidt discusses Madueke’s development at the press conference on Friday morning in the run-up to Sunday’s away game against Willem II. “His football potential can be developed even better, but also mentally. He has to become even more complete and reliable as a team player from a tactical point of view. He can learn that here.”

Schmidt is confident that Madueke will eventually become an important and fixed value in the front line of PSV. “If he develops well, he can become a very important player for PSV,” said the PSV coach, who has not yet spoken to Madueke about the growing stream of rumors about a departure from Eindhoven. “We talk a lot, but not about the rumors in the media. I’ve read them, but it’s clear to me that he will stay.”

Madueke seems to be in the picture at least at Dortmund, which takes into account a summer departure from Sancho. However, the interest does not only come from Dortmund. It Eindhovens Dagblad and Football International recently reported that ‘almost the entire European top’ is after Madueke. From England, RB Leipzig, AC Milan, Leicester City, Bayern Munich, Leeds United and Crystal Palace were previously mentioned as candidates. Leicester City would even be ready to deposit twenty million euros for Madueke.

According to reports from BILD PSV is holding on to at least fifteen million euros for Madueke. PSV took the nineteen-year-old right winger away from the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy on a free transfer almost three years ago, where he had played for four years at that time. The Spurs in turn snatched him from the academy of Crystal Palace, where Madueke is said to be able to return. Madueke made his debut in the main squad of PSV last season and made 34 appearances for the time being, in which he scored 9 goals and 8 assists. The attacker also earned a place in the European Championship selection of Young England, which was eliminated in the group stage in March.
