The arrival of Erling Braut Haaland is not feasible for Barcelona and Real Madrid for the time being. Goal reports that the Spanish superpowers have no chance in advance for the signature of the Borussia Dortmund striker, as they cannot and do not want to meet the salary requirements of Mino Raiola’s client. According to Goal Haaland is aiming for an annual salary of 35 million euros net. An Englishman would have already run away from the negotiations upon hearing the lofty demands.

Barcelona and Real Madrid continue according to Goal like other top European clubs interested in Haaland. However, with his alleged current salary requirements, a switch from Dortmund to one of the two Spanish superpowers is not possible. Father Alf-Inge Haaland and Raiola recently visited Real Madrid and Barcelona on the same day. Informal talks were held with Real Madrid director Jose Angel Sanchez and Barcelona chairman Joan Laporta. It only concerned introductory meetings and according to the website, no substantive discussions were held about a possible deal during these meetings.

An unnamed English top club would have already dropped out of the negotiations a few months ago after hearing the salary demands of Haaland. Given the financial situation, Barcelona cannot cough up a salary of 35 million euros net per year, while the amount is also too high for the Royal. Chairman Perez still wants to bring Haaland to the Santiago Bernabéu, but not for the salary that the 20-year-old Norwegian wants. If the attacker himself would like to make the switch, then he will have to compromise, or so it sounds. After all, with an ongoing contract with Dortmund, an interested club will also have to put a high transfer fee on the table.

Dortmund, in turn, is in no hurry to sell Haaland. Sporting director Michael Zorc has already announced that the presence of the sought-after striker will be taken into account towards next season, even if Dortmund does not qualify for the Champions League. Haaland’s contract will run until mid-2024. Reportedly, the club management is only willing to let him go for an amount of about 150 million euros.
