Guus Til blames himself after his outburst against Navajo Port. The Feyenoord midfielder could not contain his emotions after Luis Sinisterra’s 2-1 in the home game against Heracles Almelo and the defender had to pay for it, after the two had previously had a fight with each other. Til attributes the odd move to frustration as his club struggled to regain control in the game.

Frank Wormuth’s team offered good resistance throughout the game, so that the winning goal provided extra relief for Til. “I thought it was a very tough race, I had hoped it would be easier.” After Sinisterra scored what later turned out to be the winning goal in the seventieth minute, Til Bakker went up to him to apparently rub the goal in. The two had already had a fight with each other just before the goal after a duel in the Heracles penalty area.

Porter did mention the action to referee Bas Nijhuis, but he decided not to intervene further. Til doesn’t justify his action. “That was just adrenaline. Afterwards in the dressing room I also thought: Guus, what are you doing? Not smart. It’s frustration too, sure. That’s not how I am and I don’t want to be that way. But it happened.” Feyenoord came to 32 points with the victory, which made it one again behind leader Ajax.

Til does not speak of a stolen victory, but also thought the victory was anything but free: “They also came one-on-one with the keeper at the beginning of the second half and then you can start again… I think we had to fight very hard for the three points and I’m also glad we did. But it was very hard fought. I understand that the Heracles coach said he was proud of his team.”
