There is little chance that Erick Gutiérrez can also be admired in the PSV shirt next season. The Mexican is dissatisfied with his current role and has indicated to the club management that he wants to look at offers from other clubs, it writes Eindhovens Dagblad. PSV would like to see Gutiérrez stay for another year, but the midfielder does not seem to be interested in that. His contract will run until mid-2025.

Guti is considering offers from his native Mexico, but prefers to continue his career in Europe. Clubs from Germany and Spain have previously shown interest in the midfielder, but that was not yet very concrete. Guti himself recently submitted an open application to Roger Schmidt, the trainer under whom he has performed best at PSV so far. “Let him get me, let him get me,” he jokingly said in a Mexican podcast.

Gutiérrez was taken over by PSV from Pachuca in the summer of 2018 for around six million euros. The Mexican was reunited with his friend Hirving Lozano in Eindhoven, but never managed to leave an indelible impression. After Gutiérrez made sixteen appearances in his debut year, then trainer Mark van Bommel only called on him sporadically in the first months after the turn of the year, as he ‘had difficulty adapting to the pace and level’.

Gutiérrez was also not always assured of a basic place in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons. In total, the counter stands at 141 games, in which he scored twelve times and delivered just as many assists. The Mexican international seemed to be one of the victims of the arrival of Earnest Stewart, as the technical man indicated that he wanted to continue selecting. However, people in Eindhoven would have liked to have continued for another year. Possibly because the interest in Ibrahim Sangaré will probably also start.

Baumgartl
Another PSV player on his way to the exit is Timo Baumgartl. The German was rented out to 1. FC Union Berlin for two years in 2021 and does not feel like returning to Eindhoven. The German stunt crew has an option to buy on Baumgartl. It is unknown whether this will be lifted. The defender’s contract with PSV will continue until next summer. On Thursday evening, Baumgartl was present at the promotion/relegation game of his former employer VfB Stuttgart, which won 3-0 against HSV and is close to survival.
