The top match in the Bundesliga between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen did not produce a winner on Friday evening. The spectacular, even battle in the Allianz Arena ended in 2-2 thanks to a full penalty from Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios. The best goal of the evening was from Grimaldo, who fired in a fantastic free kick. Leverkusen and Bayern remain in first and second place in the Bundesliga with ten points from four matches.

At Bayern, Noussair Mazraoui lost his starting place to Konrad Laimer, although the Moroccan international came on after an hour of play. Five minutes before the end, Matthijs de Ligt also entered the field, remarkably in a role as number 6. On the side of Bayer Leverkusen, there was a starting place for Jeremie Frimpong as usual. Timothy Fosu-Mensah has not yet played this season due to an injury that Workself.

The first half was full of spectacle with two attacking teams. Kane scored his goal in the seventh minute. The English striker excellently anticipated a passed corner kick and headed in at the far post: 1-0. A fantastic free kick from Grimaldo brought the clubs back into balance in the 24th minute: 1-1. The Spaniard, who came over from Benfica, shot the ball with the inside of his foot over the wall into the intersection.

There were chances for both teams in the final stages of the first half, the biggest of which went to Bayern. A powerful header from Thomas Müller from a free kick was saved by Lukas Hradecky, who moments later also prevented Leroy Sané from shooting in. After the break, Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface made a cheeky attempt to score from the halfway line when goalkeeper Sven Ulreich was well in front of his goal, but the ball ended up just on the wrong side of the crossbar.

Leverkusen came very close fifteen minutes before the end through Florian Wirtz, who cut himself fantastically free, but shot against the post from inside the penalty area. Bayern did manage to find the goal four minutes before the end. After a nice dribble, Mathys Tel brought the ball low in front of the goal, where Leon Goretzka was ready to tap in: 2-1. Bayern came away very well in the final phase with a big chance for Boniface, but still had to concede an equalizer in injury time. Leverkusen were awarded a penalty due to a slight push from Alphonso Davies. The penalty was finished by Exequiel Palacios: 2-2.
